When you come to Riga for a vacation or a business trip, you will be met with a huge selection of possible accommodations. There is everything from luxurious hotels and apartments to discount lodging and hostels. No matter what your budget is, there will be a suitable place to rest during the night.
5 Star Hotels
There are 6 hotels in Riga that have earned 5 star statuses. All of the hotels offer incredible services and are a short distance from the city center. One of the most famous is the Grand Palace Hotel located in the heart of old town. The other 5 star hotels are the Daugava Radisson, the Reval, Hotel Bergs, Hotel de Rome, and the Royal Square. All of these establishments pamper their guests with the best in Latvian hospitality, but the services come at a high price.
Great Values
Most of the lower priced hotels are located farther away from the city center. The only other difference between these hotels and the 5 star locations are the little extras. If you do not require a room decorated with expensive art, Egyptian cotton sheets and mini refrigerators, you will be most satisfied in one of Riga’s discount hotels. Although you will not get a piece of chocolate on your pillow each day, you can be confident you will have a clean room with modern amenities. Similar to the fancy hotels, most discount places offer a free continental breakfast to their guests.
Serviced Apartments
For travelers that want to get an authentic living experience in Riga, there are many serviced apartments for rent. It doesn’t matter if you are staying for one night or one month, these apartments are fully equip to give you all the feelings of home. They come with kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms ranging all different sizes, prices and qualities. This is the best option if you want to prepare your own food from the local markets or just enjoy a typical Latvian flat. The best feature of the apartments is they are usually located near the center of the city. Most apartments are very well kempt and offer all the contemporary fashions you are accustom to. Be sure to do a lot a research because some apartments will be quite luxurious and expensive while other can be simple and affordable.
Hostels
If you want to get the best value out of your time in Riga, check into a hostel. These are places that offer little more than a safe place to sleep and a community bathroom. If you are concerned about saving money and do not mind sharing a room with complete strangers, this is the place for you. By no means do hostels claim to offer privacy, unless you are able to book an entire room for your traveling party. If you can help it, your best interest would be to find an inexpensive hotel rather than a hostel, but everyone has their own tastes and monetary restrictions. Many hostels offer a breakfast for their guests, but it usually requires a nominal fee.
